Announced what seemed to be very abruptly last week that there will be no new episodes of The Jerry Springer Show. Neither Springer nor producers are saying much about it. The show won't fully disappear however as NBC Universal stated that the CW and other networks that have bought the show in syndication will air reruns.
Producers said "there is a possibility" that more original episodes could be ordered sometime in the future, although that is very open ended as no one is talking about it.
Springer, a former Cincinnati mayor, who on his show didn't take himself too seriously and tried to take a light hearted approach, but was able to balance that with insight and intuitiveness when needed. During an interview with the AP at his show's 25th anniversary three years ago, Springer said that anyone could do his job if they learned three phrases: "You did what?" ''Come on out!" and "We'll be right back." He presided over more than 4,000 episodes.
