Memorial Weekend Heatwave Could Be One Of The Hottest On Record

FUN FACT! Did you know a heatwave is defined as 3 or more days in a row, of 90+ degree temps?

Well we are in the middle of a heatwave no doubt there, and this memorial weekend is just barely kicking off. This could be one of the five hottest in Minnesota on record though.

According to the National Weather Service, it hasn't been 90 degrees on Memorial Day in the Twin Cities since temps reached 94 degrees in 2006. The five warmest Memorial Day temps in the Twin Cities are:

1. 95 degrees, 1939

2. 94 degrees, 2006

3. 91 degrees, 1988, 1994

4. 88 degrees, 1944, 2011

With temps for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday forecasted to be 90, 91, 92 and 90 it seems like we'll set a new record! Whether you're headed out of town or staying in, stay cool this weekend!
