Some steering wheels are falling off of two types of Ford cars, leading the auto maker to issue a recall for over 1.3 million units.

Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles, are the ones affected. If you own a 2014-18 Fusion or Lincoln MKZ and it was manufactured at any of the below plants, bring it in as soon as possible.

– 2014-17 Ford Fusions built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Aug. 6, 2013 to Feb. 29, 2016.

– 2014-18 Ford Fusions built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, July 25, 2013 to March 5, 2018.

– 2014-18 Lincoln MKZs built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, July 25, 2013 to March 5, 2018.

(If you don't know where your vehicle was manufactured, check with your dealer. They'll be able to tell you)

Ford says there is a bolt in the steering column that can loosen over time and cause the steering wheel to detach. It's happened on at least two occasions, resulting in one injury crash.
