The rate of sexually transmitted diseases has reached a record high in Minnesota, and they're especially higher in one metro area county.

According to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, Minnesota reported 30,981 cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis in 2017. The previous year, there were 28,631 cases and 25,986 cases in 2015.

Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm told the Pioneer Press that certain groups are affected by STDs, HIV, and hepatitis C more than others, such as "communities of color, men who have sex with men, and people who inject drugs."

According to WTOP, Ramsey County has the highest rate of STDs in all of Minnesota.
