Entire City Stops For One Minute - This Gave Me Chills

Posted August 7th, 2014 @ 1:00pm

This floored me. It's intense. Inspiring. Even a bit shocking, I guess. But I also love it. I love that somewhere in the world something like this happens. In a very understated, doing it for the right reasons not for a spectacle, manner.

Here's the reason behind the stand still, taken from the San Francisco Globe, "Every August 1st, the city of Warsaw in Poland freezes for one minute to commemorate the loss of 200,000 Polish civilian lives as a result of the Warsaw Uprising during World War II. The Warsaw Uprising was led by Polish home forces to free the city of Warsaw from Nazi Germany. This is that day caught on film."

Wow, is about all I have to add. Right?
