Some pop stars get famous and forget about all things important in the world. Not Katy Perry! The singer is showing her commitment to making education better.
The singer said in an interview with Yahoo that she wished she had had a better education. She received her education in a variety of ways, including being homeschooled.
“I was being pulled out of school even in the middle of school and sometimes being homeschooled,” Perry told Yahoo. “Sometimes we were sent to these really half-Christian, half-education, I-don’t-know-what-they-were schools.”
Perry dropped out of high school and worked to get her GED instead so she could pursue her career in music.
“I’m kind of bummed at this stage that I didn’t have a great education because I could really use that these days,” Perry told Yahoo.
But despite her mismatched education, the singer is committed to making schools better. She recently teamed up with Staples for her “Make Roar Happen” campaign that donates $1 on in-store or online purchases toward DonorsChoose.org. Check out the details of this campaign here!
