Drunk Birds Wreaking Havoc on Minnesota City

This northern Minnesota city has a drunk bird problem. Literally.

Bring Me The News says Gilbert, Minnesota's bird population has been flying into windows and cars more than normal, and it's been determined they're "drunk" on berries that are ahead of schedule in terms of fermentation.

The Gilbert Police Department wrote about the ordeal on its Facebook page:

The Gilbert Police Department has received several reports of birds that appear to be 'under the influence' flying into windows, cars and acting confused. The reason behind this occurrence is certain berries we have in our area have fermented earlier than usual due to an early frost, which in turn has expedited the fermenting process. Many birds have not migrated south, so it appears to be more prevalent than in past years. It appears that some birds are getting a little more 'tipsy' than normal. Generally, younger birds' livers cannot handle the toxins as efficiently as more mature birds. There is no need to call law enforcement about these birds as they should sober up within a short period of time.

Gilbert PD continued with hilarious jokes, saying they'd like residents to call them if they saw "Heckle and Jeckle walking around being boisterous or playing practical jokes," "Woodstock pushing Snoopy off the doghouse for no apparent reason," and "Angry Birds laughing and giggling uncontrollably and appearing to be happy," among other offenses by our pop culture bird friends.
