Ben Folds is reluctantly saying goodbye to his recording space in Nashville's historic Studio A.  The singer-songwriter has been a tenant of the old RCA building on Music Row for 12 years, but he explained Friday that he decided to move after the new owner reportedly raised the rent by 124%.

When it was announced that the studio was being sold back in June, Folds took to social media to start a "Save Studio A" campaign.  But he adds that the fight wasn't about just saving his own space.  He says it was about preserving Music Row as a whole and "retaining Nashville's identity, culture, and music economy."

Folds says he plans to take full advantage of his last few months in Studio A.  He hopes to record as much of his new album as possible before his lease ends in November.
