Former Full House star, Dave Coulier, denies that Alanis Morissette’s hit song “You Oughta Know” is about him. While the song has been linked to him for years, in a recent Buzzfeed interview the comedian said he doesn’t want to be associated with a guy like the one in the 1995 song.
“First of all, the guy in that song is a real a--hole, so I don’t want to be that guy,” Coulier said. “It’s just become this silly urban legend that I just have to laugh at.” Morissette and Coulier dated in 1992 and once the song was released, Coulier was bombarded with questions about the identity of the guy.
Coulier said, “I asked Alanis, 'I'm getting calls by the media and they want to know who this guy is.' And she said, 'Well, you know it could be a bunch of people. But you can say whatever you want.'”

He explained that being hounded by the press all night at a red carpet event led him to say that he was the subject of the song and from there it snowballed into a big gossip story. In the Buzzfeed interview Coulier also discusses what inspired him to go into comedy, his audition for Full House and some advice he received from Jay Leno.
Coulier will appear on Oprah: Where Are They Now on June 8 and will be touring the U.S. and Canada through December. You can get more information about his tour here.
