After Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings announced that Jones was diagnosed with cancer last spring, they had to put their upcoming album on hold. Additionally, they had to cancel all their upcoming shows including their headlining performance at the Basilica Block Party.

After a successful operation and ongoing treatment, Jones recently announced that she will be returning to music. The Dap-Kings album, 'Give the People What They Want', was originally scheduled for release this past August and will now be released on January 14, 2014:

Not only can we look forward to exciting new music, but the band also released the date and venue of their first performance in almost a year. The band will take the stage on February 6th at the Beacon Theater in New York City.

Bassist Bosco Mann disclosed in a press release, "The entire Daptone Family is overjoyed and inspired to see Sharon's recovery. Without a doubt, this album is the greatest thing we've ever recorded and I've been anxious for the world to hear it. Everything will culminated in February at the Beacon. That moment when Sharon walks out to join us on stage again is going to be insane."
