In May it was announced that Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper would be teaming up to create a mash-up of ‘Brave’ and ‘True Colors.’ How awesome is that? And to top it all off, the mash-up is part of a team effort with Hoda Kotb to help raise money for pediatric cancer research.
Today, Lauper took to Twitter to express her excitement about the project and to announce that the pair finished recording yesterday:
I can't believe I spent two days singing with Sara B. Come in, I got a good job. Xx— Cyndi Lauper (@cyndilauper) June 19, 2014
Kotb, who was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago, has teamed up with the singers and the American Cancer Society to help create the song and put together a concert for the kids. “Cancer is difficult to endure as an adult,” she said. “I can only imagine how tough it would be for a child – it’s such a grown-up disease.”
The campaign is a part of Today’s Shine a Light series, which supports great causes throughout the year. To donate to Kotb's campaign visit Crowdrise.com/Hoda. It’s a great cause and we can’t wait to hear what Bareilles and Lauper have come up with.
