When OneRepublic's latest album 'Native' was first released back in March of last year 'Feel Again' was the lead single but that's not exactly how lead singer Ryan Tedder saw things going down. He wanted to lead with 'Love Runs Out', a song that ended up not making the record at all! So, what happened? Ryan broke it down for the BBC:
Love Runs Out was originally going to be the first single on our album (Native, released in March last year) but I couldn't crack the chorus. It gutted me because I had it marked on the board as "first single" for six months. Brent Kutzle, who is the cello and bass player in the band, said: "Man, we cannot put this out with an A+ verse and a B+ chorus."
It was completely crushing my ego but I was like: "He's right." The verse was an A and everything else was an A but the chorus was a B. So we tabled it.
Tedder and co. wrapped work on the track and released it last night at Midnight as part of the extended re-release of 'Native'. Also included in the new album package is another new-ish tune ('Life in Color') as well as the Alesso Remix of 'If I Lose Myself':
